Population: 2,135 Area: 137 km 2 Location: 390 m above sea level Tourism and Local Recreation The municipality of Hohenfels is located on the Jurassic plateau at the east district borderline with its many scattered hamlets and farms. The St. Ulrich parish church is still the land- mark of the town with its Asam paint- ings and the trout creek rising right from underneath the church. The guest and nature lover is offered a diversity of walking and hiking trails through- out the Hohenfels countryside with its interesting flora and fauna, many guest houses and restaurants offering refreshment and delicious food. Directions Hohenfels can be reached via rural roads, the state road 2234 arriving from the west, crossing the town cen- ter and leaving in southeast direction. It is the connection to the major traffic junctions, the interstate Autobahn A3 Regensburg – Nuremberg in the west and the state road Regensburg – Amberg in the east. Bike trail between Hohenfels and Rohrbach The municipalities of Hohenfels and Kallmuenz proudly present the recently completed hike and bike trail from Hohenfels to Rohrbach. This trail con- nects the two communities embedded in the breathtaking trout creek valley. In Rohrbach, there are connections to the bike trail alongside the Vils river leading to Amberg as well as to the so-called five-river trail alongside the Naab river towards Regensburg. The construction of the bike rail significantly enhanced the recreation options within the area Hohenfels and Kallmuenz. The positive feedback from our fellow citizens testifies to the popularity of this beautifully located bike trail.
