Vorwort Foreword Vorwort · Foreword 1 Liebe Leserinnen, liebe Leser, „Weltzentrum der Medizintechnik“ – diesen Titel trägt Tuttlingen mit Stolz und auch zu Recht: Rund 400 Unternehmen dieser Branche gibt es allein in unserer Stadt, weitere 100 in der direkten Nachbarschaft. Ein Cluster dieser Art ist eine Besonderheit – und in einer eher ländlichen Region erst recht. Doch nicht nur das: In Tuttlingen gibt es auch zahlreiche weltweit aktive Unternehmen aus anderen Branchen. Maschinenbau und Automobilzulieferung seien hier nur als Beispiele genannt. Diese gesunde Mischung sorgt außerdem für ein großes Angebot an hochwertigen Arbeitsplätzen: Auf gut 37.000 Einwohner kommen über 25.000 Arbeitsplätze. Der Stadt Tuttlingen ist es wichtig, diesen Standort zu pflegen und weiter zu entwickeln: durch eine industriefreundliche und vorausschauende kommunale Grundstückspolitik einerseits, durch einen Ausbau der viel zitierten „weichen Standortfaktoren“ andererseits. Vor allem der Bereich der Bildung und Kinderbetreuung und somit die Vereinbarkeit von Familie und Beruf hat sich in den letzten Jahren zu einem Schwerpunktthema für Politik und Verwaltung entwickelt. Gleichzeitig legt Tuttlingen zusehends Wert auf eine nachhaltige Standortpolitik und investiert in den kommenden Jahren große Summen in die Gewinnung erneuerbarer Energien direkt vor Ort. In diesem Magazin möchten wir Ihnen den Standort Tuttlingen mit all seinen Facetten vorstellen: als interessante Adresse für Unternehmer und Arbeitnehmer. Denn ganz nebenbei liegt unsere Stadt in einer der reizvollsten Landschaften Deutschlands. Ihr, Michael Beck Oberbürgermeister Dear Readers, Tuttlingen’s title as “Global Centre for Medical Technology” is one that the town bears with pride – and rightly so, given that there are around 400 companies in this industry in the town alone and another 100 in the immediate vicinity. A cluster of this type is something very special – and even more so in what is mostly a rural area. But that’s not all. In Tuttlingen, there are also a large number of companies in other industries that are global players, such as plant engineering and the automotive supply industry, to name only two examples. This healthy mix also ensures that there is a large range of high quality jobs available in the area; in fact, there are more than 25,000 jobs for a population of nearly 37,000. Tuttlingen town council believes it is important to grow the town as a business location and develop it further. It achieves this by means of industry-friendly and forward-looking local property development policy on the one hand and by developing its muchquoted “soft location factors” on the other. Above all, the education and childcare sector has developed into a priority issue for policy and administration in recent years – and with it the issue of the reconciliation of family life and working life. At the same time, Tuttlingen is attaching increasing importance to sustainability in its local policies and investing large sums in the generation of renewable energies directly in the area over the next few years. In this magazine, we would like to present Tuttlingen to you and all its many facets as a business location; you’ll find it’s a beneficial address for both entrepreneurs and employers.
