U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach

4 The garrison consists of nine installations dispersed between the city of Ansbach and the town of Illesheim. Bismarck, Katterbach, Urlas, and Shipton Kasernes are located northeast and part of Ansbach. Barton Barracks and Bleidorn Kaserne are west of the city center. Storck Barracks is located in the town of Illesheim. Franken Kaserne and Oberdachstetten Training Area are located about halfway between Ansbach and Illesheim, which are about 25 miles apart. USAG Ansbach is an Army Power Projection Plat- form and U.S. Army Europe’s strategic aviation platform. USAG Ansbach is home to the permanently based 12th Combat Aviation Brigade and the 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment. In addition, we are home to rotational aviation and air defense artillery forces on nine-month rotations in support of Atlantic Resolve as a demonstration of the United States’ com- mitment to the collective security of Europe in cooperation with NATO Allies and partner nations. The garrison provides the infrastructure, quality of life pro- grams that promote stability as well as effective environmen- tal stewardship across the community. We manage resources efficiently and equitably to support mission readiness and execution, and the well-being of service members, families, and civilians. The Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, or Family and MWR, provides community members with a variety of quality programs and services. Keeping our Army ready to fight takes more than hard work and training; Soldiers and families need a balance between work and play. Leisure time offers opportu- nities for relaxation, rejuvenation and recreation. Providing this and more is the mission of Family and MWR.
