In this brochure, you‘ll find lots of helpful information and addresses. Via the city administration, you can make contact with migrant organisations: Zuwanderungs- und Integrationsbüro/Integrationsbeirat (ZIB), St. Jo- hann town hall, Room 223, zib@saarbruecken.de, telephone +49 681 905-1352. Information in many lan- guages and in Simple Language can be found here: www.migration-gesundheit.bund.de/de/pflege Little dictionary Out-patient assistance Most people want to remain at home for as long as possible and receive care there. They are then called “outpatients” (as opposed to “inpatients”). Outpatient offers include, for example, outpatient care, sup- port services and everyday help (for addresses see Chapter V). Home emergency call Persons living on their own can call for help day and night with the home emergency call. They press an alarm button. This alerts the home emergency call centre. Various authorities will inform you about the providers and the costs (see Chapter V for addresses). Living will and power of attorney In a living will, you can specify what medical treatment you would like to receive in the event that you are no longer able to decide for yourself. In a power of attor- ney, you can stipulate which person is to represent you if you‘re no longer able to make decisions yourself (see Chapter I). Long-term care insurance Everybody who holds health insurance also holds long- term care insurance. If you are in need of long-term care, you must submit an application to your long-term care insurance company, i.e. your health insurance company. There, you can make an appointment to get advice. The long-term care advisors know all about so- cial law and social insurance (see Chapter II). Long-term care advice centres In Saarbrücken there are long-term care advice centres. They give neutral and free information about medical and nursing offers, about care at home or in an institu- tion and about help with everyday life. They also give information about financial aid (for addresses see Chap- ter I). Long-term care after hospitalization In hospital, the social services will help the patient to arrange the next steps: long-term care at home or in a care facility. Hospice Hospices facilitate dying in dignity with competent medi- cal aid and care, advice and support. Saarbrücken has an inpatient hospice and an outpatient hospice service (see Chapter I for addresses). Informationen in anderen Sprachen 12
